JOHN WAYNE & JAMES DEAN

Adopted April 3, 2026

Talk about a rough start to life. John Wayne and James Dean, along with their five littermates and mom, were abandoned shortly after birth. Even though AALOC was at maximum capacity we couldn’t turn our back on this cat and her young family. Although this movie started out ominously, it had a fairy-tale Hollywood ending for John Wayne and James Dean. Janet adopted both and they arrived at her house - which was loaded with cat toys and other goodies - just before Easter Sunday. Blessings to you Janet for adopting these larger than life, star-studded brothers together!

A grey cat lies on a wooden floor, eyes half-open, resting near a red fuzzy object, indoors with soft light—quite relaxed and cozy.
Two cats cuddling together, gray and orange, intertwined and resting on a dark blanket.

POPPY

Adopted January 20, 2026

I'm sure you've heard this story before: there simply was no room at the inn when Poppy needed a home. But sometimes lemons turn into lemonade and that's exactly what happened to Poppy. Poppy was sent to our trusted vet's office, Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach, for boarding and it turned out to be the perfect spot to find a forever love. One of AHHB team members grew to love Poppy and decided to adopt her.

Thank you Ricardo for caring for Poppy while we she just a boarder and for choosing to care for her the rest of her life. We know Poppy will have a great home with you and her feline sibling Puss. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Ricardo for becoming Poppy's new pet parent and sharing your family with her!

STARFISH

Adopted December 7, 2025

Starfish, a small Chihuahua mix, was brought to AALOC by her previous owner. She and Starfish had been living in her car for the last two years and recently the car’s air conditioning broke down. It was the final straw for Starfish’s owner: she surrendered Starfish to AALOC. It was an extremely heart-wrenching decision because Starfish was her everything - her whole heart and soul. She realized though that Starfish deserved a better life and knew AALOC could provide him with one. Christmas wishes do come true sometimes and that's exactly what happened for Starfish. He met his new pet parents Cynthia and Steve and brother Chihuahua Steve and it took only one day for Starfish to feel right at home. Many blessings to Cynthia and Steve for fulfilling Starfish and his previous owner's dream of a better life for this little guy!

JACK AND JILL

Adopted November 23, 2025

Jack and Jill are an inseparable pair of young, healthy Yorkies whose world was turned upside down when their beloved owner was deported. Left in the care of a relative, these two sweethearts were lovingly brought to AALOC in hopes of finding the stable, caring home they so deserve. But there was a catch: Jack and Jill had never known life apart and they needed to find new pet parents willing to adopt them together. Their dream came true and they found the best new owners ever: Qiana and Eddie! Jack and Jill were welcomed into their new home with two of everything: toys, beds, cages and two new loves to cherish them forever. We are so thankful Qiana and Eddie that your hearts were big enough to adopt both of these precious pups!
