POPPY

Adopted January 20, 2026

I'm sure you've heard this story before: there simply was no room at the inn when Poppy needed a home. But sometimes lemons turn into lemonade and that's exactly what happened to Poppy. Poppy was sent to our trusted vet's office, Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach, for boarding and it turned out to be the perfect spot to find a forever love. One of AHHB team members grew to love Poppy and decided to adopt her.

Thank you Ricardo for caring for Poppy while we she just a boarder and for choosing to care for her the rest of her life. We know Poppy will have a great home with you and her feline sibling Puss. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Ricardo for becoming Poppy's new pet parent and sharing your family with her!

Two smiling adults hold small dogs outdoors on a sunny day, wearing casual clothes; a tree-lined park background.
Two seniors sit on a couch with small dogs; man in white tee, woman in bright green hoodie, both smiling warmly at the camera.

STARFISH

Adopted December 7, 2025

Starfish, a small Chihuahua mix, was brought to AALOC by her previous owner. She and Starfish had been living in her car for the last two years and recently the car’s air conditioning broke down. It was the final straw for Starfish’s owner: she surrendered Starfish to AALOC. It was an extremely heart-wrenching decision because Starfish was her everything - her whole heart and soul. She realized though that Starfish deserved a better life and knew AALOC could provide him with one. Christmas wishes do come true sometimes and that's exactly what happened for Starfish. He met his new pet parents Cynthia and Steve and brother Chihuahua Steve and it took only one day for Starfish to feel right at home. Many blessings to Cynthia and Steve for fulfilling Starfish and his previous owner's dream of a better life for this little guy!

A cozy gray cat lounges on a wooden floor, its head resting near a shiny red toy ball, eyes half‑open, while soft light fills the room.
