ROADIE

Adopted December 16, 2021

Roadie was hit by a car and left for dead when a kind man stopped to pull what he thought was a deceased dog out of the middle of the dark, cold road. Instead he noticed Roadie was breathing hard, urinating blood, going into shock and barely hanging on. Rushed to the ER, little Roadie had lung contusions, a pneumothorax, critical lab values, a head injury and severe bone fractures. The vet didn’t know if he would survive until 48 hours passed but the medical team and AALOC fought hard for the little guy, and he survived!

Once healed Roadie was adopted into the best home possible: he enjoys the good life with Kathy and her other pooches.

GRACIE

Adopted August 15, 2021

It was all fun and games at first. One minute Chloe, a husky mix puppy, was having a great time playing with a group of kids in the park. The next minute she was alone in the park, all by herself. Luckily a very sweet woman saw Chloe and understood she had been abandoned. This compassionate hero picked Chloe up and brought her to AALOC for safekeeping.

Volunteering at AALOC can be a tricky thing. You definitely fall in love with all the animals at the kennel but every once in a while there is a special one that completely steals your heart. In this case the match couldn’t have been one bit better. An AALOC volunteer who was especially trained in large dogs adopted Chloe and renamed her Gracie. Gracie will grow up in a home full of love for all animals… and especially for Gracie.

MONTY

Adopted August 19, 2021

Monty had been living at a lake resort where he was abandoned a year prior. One day the resort staff found him drooling and in distress. He was rushed to emergency and AALOC donated funds towards Monty's care. After he healed, Monty came to AALOC.

Now Monty has a new home and a couple to love. Paul and Tanya took this very handsome, lovable kitty with two different colored eyes home and from the look of photos sent, Monty couldn't be any happier. Thank you Paul and Tanya for choosing Monty as your new love bug!

PERIWINKLE & LIZZY

Adopted July 13, 2021

Periwinkle and Lizzy, black and white, long-haired tuxedo felines, were two kittens from a litter of cats abandoned on the AALOC front porch. Six kittens in total were left in a small box with barely enough air holes to survive. Luckily one of the AALOC team members spotted the box that sunny, hot day before any harm could be done to the litter. Although their other four siblings were adopted, Periwinkle and Lizzy grew into sweet, playful and friendly cats while waiting for a forever home.

Oh happy day! A lovely couple – Jim and Jennifer – took this bonded pair of fuzzy balls of fun home to love and cherish forever. Thank you Jim and Jennifer for giving these two sisters a place in your hearts!

JESSEE

Adopted June 1, 2021

Jessee, a small male Chihuahua mix, was brought to AALOC in a box sealed with duct tape. The poor little dog was terrified and snapped and growled when the box was opened but quickly recognized the kindness of the shelter workers. Unfortunately Jessee's rough beginning translated into a dog that initially did not trust humans and presented with a very poor first impression. Jessee needed a special owner: one that would be patient in winning his trust and willing to give him the chance he needed. After many, many years at AALOC Jessee finally won the lottery and has a new home.

A volunteer who saw through Jessee's hard shell exterior to a dog that just wanted to be loved and held adopted Jessee. Jessee's new owner is definitely the best person to own this little dog and we know with her love it won't take long for Jessee to heal completely.

Of course we are always happy when an animal in our care finds the perfect new home but when one who has been with us for a long time finds their very special someone our hearts are filled with so much gratitude. Our very best wishes to both Jessee and his new owner for a long, happy life together!
