LEFTY

Adopted January 24, 2020

Sometimes it takes a while to find that right fit. It took a couple of years before Lefty found his perfect home but he has one now! Buninia welcomed Lefty into her heart and her home. Lefty not only has the perfect owner but he also has a new dog buddy too named Biggie. Biggie and Lefty... sounds like two old-time gangsters!

We are always so excited when one of our animals is adopted. It is bittersweet though to let them go to new homes after having fallen in love with each and every one of them. We hope Buninia keeps us supplied with plenty of photos so our team can enjoy watching Lefty and the incredible new life he will be living. Thanks Buninia for making his new life possible!

Buninia is keeping us supplied with news and photos about Lefty. Recently she sent a note that said: "Lefty's very relaxed. Mastered the stairs today. He and Biggie play together really well. I think he's doing great." Buninia also sent new photos of Lefty enjoying his new home... we loved seeing them! A further update said: "Lefty is fully acclimated now. He sleeps anywhere he wants and loves the dining room, back of couch and my bed. He's on a diet so not fully happy about that but eats all of his low calorie kibble and wet food with no complaints. He's a good boy."

SCOOTER

Adopted November 23, 2019

Our little Scooter has found his forever home and although we will miss him tons we are so excited he has a new family. Brian, Jennifer and Izzy adopted him and a recent text says Scooter fit right in. Pictures show him cuddled up to Izzy snoozing together and Jennifer said they also like to play. We think Scooter is one lucky dog to have been selected by this amazing couple and their dog Izzy! Thank you so much for taking Scooter home!

CHARLIE

Adopted October 18, 2019

A note was left when a family of four Chihuahuas was abandoned outside AALOC. It said: “I am moving out of state today, and cannot take the dogs. I tried to find good homes, but with short notice it was hard. Please take care of them. They are great dogs. Charlie is an old soul, skittish at first, just a love."

We are so happy to report that Charlie had been adopted by a wonderful young couple and now has a unique new bestie – a cat named Lemon. According to Taylor and Melanie, Charlie’s new owners, the first time Charlie met Lemon (who happens to be bigger than Charlie) "there were no barks, growls, hisses or anything." We’re not sure who will find the other more curious and interesting – Charlie watching Lemon or Lemon watching Charlie.

We wish Charlie and his new family many, many years together and Happy Tails always!

BERNIE

Adopted October 12, 2019

Still a puppy, Bernie was tied to a pole and abandoned by his previous owner. A caring couple saw him and brought him to AALOC for safekeeping. But a young family took one look at this irresistible little black and white ball of fluff and decided to take him home!

Sam and Sandy selected to adopt Bernie out of the large number of available dogs in Orange County. Bernie instantly fell in love with the couple's two daughters, Sofia and Mils, and we wish them all the very best growing up together. (In the photos sent Bernie really looks like he enjoys bedtime stories so girls don't forget to read to him every night!) The family also includes two adorable cats who took a moment when Bernie arrived to carefully check him out. We're not sure Bernie is cat-approved just yet, but we know he will pour on the charm to make a very convincing case to love him by everyone in the household. If nothing else, the resident cats will definitely have something new to watch!

Here's a recent note from Sam and Sandy about Bernie's first few weeks: "Bernie is doing amazing! We love him so much. He's had his first appointment with our vet, and insurance starts in November. He has puppy play dates with our neighborhood dogs, and we are very happy he sleeps through the night. He is the sweetest dog."

We couldn't be more happy or excited Bernie has a new home. Thank you Sam, Sandy, Sofia and Mils for choosing Bernie to be a part of your family!
